Big blow: Zamora out at least four months

11 September 2010

Zamora's ankle was pinned underneath the wash of a slide tackle from Wolves' Karl Henry.

In-match suspicions have been confirmed and Bobby Zamora will be out for at least four months with a broken ankle suffered in the first half today against Wolves.

Fulham manager Mark Hughes is hopeful that’s the full extent of the injury.

“We’re hopeful he hasn't suffered any ligament damage, but if he has he could be for longer,” Hughes said. “It's a big loss. We won the game for him really.”

If there’s one saving grace for Zamora, at least he signed his new 50,000-pound-a-week contract this week before suffering such a serious injury. Otherwise, it’s another frustrating blow for the striker who had forced his way into England’s national side only have have injuries repeatedly rob him of his chances.

We’ll see what the saving grace will be for Fulham, which probably will be starting a collection of wings and midfielders up top, at least until Andy Johnson finally returns to the pitch and they can assess his form after his own lengthy injury absence.

My initial expert assessment of the situation: “#%@^@#%#@^@%@&%!!!!!!”
